Who is Helene Mearing?
Before we start, let me ask you a question if I may,
What happens when you slip into a void?
Your Life becomes unfulfilled, empty and you feel out of date. Who are you? What are you doing now? and Where are you going?
This is what happens, when you lose your vision on who you are, what you are doing and why you are doing it.
My journey from traditional business owner (hairdressing), to floundering online for a few years, falling gullible to the feeding frenzy of the online sharks, the know it all, had me slipping into that void.
Fortunately, I managed to turn the table around. I had to get out of my head and into my heart.
Coming out the other side, accepting who I was, my role and responsibility as a modern elder to share my knowledge and wisdom I had gained over the years and to be a creator of change in this new economy.
I needed to be in control, figure the stuff out that moves the needle in my life.
After many years hairdressing, working my butt off, firstly as an employee then time spent, as a trainer with the major companies and business owner … My hairdressing life experience was awesome!
Sure, I could cut hair but my specialty was solving problems.
And boy, were there some doozies of problems to solve. Like, how to stop hair sliding down the sink after some crazy hairdresser, wanting to speed up the color process by using the wrong developer. Not good!
Now, remembering, I’ve been around a little while, so over the years, I’ve had some interesting challenges. Perms not taking, testing hair on a trichogram. color not working...and dirty little secrets like how to get rid of color stain off the skin with cigarette ash…
If there was ever a disaster in the salon, the response was, call the technician.. They will fix it.
Yes, it was exciting, life was fast moving, fun and very expensive..
Hairdressing is a rather competitive industry..
And keeping up to date with the latest fashion costs! Along with the often, extravagant lifestyle you were expected to show up for.
I knew I would never crack it, as a Sharon Blain or Sandy Chong.. at the artistic level …
However, I was in business not just for the artistic side, I believed there had to be a solution for making money in this industry and I was on a mission to find it.
I was not going to be a broke hairdresser.
Now I’m talking profit, in your bank account working for you!
Not the turnover, you may have in your business or waiting for the sale of your business or hoping to have enough money in your retirement plan …
Yes, I wanted financial freedom but I also wanted to be in control and live my life on my terms.
This was an ‘Ahha’ moment, for me.
Whilst laying on my back in a hospital bed, after being hit of my mountain bike, eight weeks gives you time to think… along with six months of recovery.
All I could think about, was all the money I spent on Hair Training, Motivation and Business and Personal Development courses, books you name it and I have done it.. Time to put this to good use and share.
